What does Providence mean in a Christian context?

Answered in 2 sources

Providence refers to God's sovereign guidance and control over all creation.

In Christian theology, Providence is understood as God's sovereign oversight and governance of the universe. It encompasses His ability to orchestrate all events—both joyful and challenging—to fulfill His divine purposes. The assurance found in Psalm 89 conveys that although we may experience trials that challenge our understanding of God's promises, these circumstances are part of His greater design. Every event in our lives, no matter how trivial or significant, serves the purpose of drawing us closer to Him and confirming His ultimate covenant promises. Thus, Providence instills hope and peace, assuring believers that they are never outside of God's watchful care.
