What does redemption mean in the context of Christianity?

Answered in 2 sources

Redemption refers to the complete deliverance from sin and its consequences through the price paid by Christ on the cross.

In Christianity, redemption is a profound concept representing the total liberation from sin and judgment that Christ accomplished through His sacrificial death. The term conveys a rescue through the payment of a ransom, which is fully satisfied by Christ's atonement. As highlighted in the sermon, God's justice was perfectly satisfied in the sacrifice of His Son, allowing us to be redeemed from the consequences of sin (Jeremiah 50:20). This redemption is not only spiritual but will one day culminate in the physical redemption of our bodies, as we await the resurrection and final restoration. Thus, understanding redemption is essential to grasping the fullness of the gospel and the extent of God’s grace.
