What does repentance entail according to the Bible?

Answered in 1 source

Repentance involves turning from sin, self-righteousness, and embracing Christ by faith.

Biblical repentance is a thorough transformation of the heart that leads to a change in behavior. As preached by the prophets and reiterated by Jesus, true repentance involves recognizing our sinful nature, turning away from our sinful actions, and renouncing self-righteousness—believing we can earn God's favor through our merits. It is a complete turning towards Christ, who alone grants salvation and regeneration. Without true repentance, one cannot experience the spiritual renewal promised in Scripture.
