What does the Bible say about Abram as a type of Christ?

Answered in 1 source

Abram is seen as a type of Christ, representing the covenant relationship between God and His people.

Abram's life and actions serve as a foreshadowing of Jesus Christ. Just as Abram was called by God to leave his home and journey to the Promised Land, Christ left His heavenly throne to come to earth for the redemption of His people. The promises made to Abram, such as being the father of a great nation and being blessed by God, reflect the greater covenant established through Christ, wherein He also represents His people and brings them into inheritance. The Scriptures indicate that all the promises made to Abram ultimately point to Christ as the fulfillment of God's redemptive plan.
