What does the Bible say about Adam and original sin?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that Adam's sin resulted in the fall of mankind, leading to original sin and a corrupt nature for all people.

According to 1 Corinthians 15:21-22, by man came death, and in Adam all die. This means that Adam, as the federal head of humanity, represented all people. His transgression brought about the imputation of guilt and original sin, making us spiritually dead in trespasses and sins (Romans 5:12). Therefore, every person inherits a corrupt nature from Adam, characterized by an inability and indifference towards God, as outlined in Romans 3:10-12, which states that there is none righteous, no, not one. The fall of Adam is foundational to understanding humanity's need for redemption.
