What does the Bible say about adversity and prosperity?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible teaches that both adversity and prosperity are appointed by God for our growth and reliance on Him (Ecclesiastes 7:14).

Ecclesiastes 7:14 states, 'In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider: God has made the one as well as the other.' This verse highlights the divine balance between prosperity and adversity in our lives. Both experiences are designed by God to serve a purpose in our spiritual growth and understanding of His providence. The existence of both conditions reminds us that we are not to be overly attached to prosperity nor completely crushed by adversity, for both are under God's sovereign control.
