What does the Bible say about affliction in the Christian life?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that believers will face tribulations, but they should take heart because Christ has overcome the world.

The Scriptures affirm that affliction is a common experience for believers, as stated in James 5:13, where it inquires whether any among them are afflicted. Jesus Himself warned in John 16:33 that, in the world, we will have tribulation but encouraged us to take heart, for He has overcome the world. Likewise, Acts 14:22 reminds us that we must through much tribulation enter the Kingdom of God. The persistence of tribulation is not a reflection of forsakenness, but rather a part of God's providential plan to refine and strengthen our faith through trials.
