What does the Bible say about agreement with adversaries?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible encourages us to agree with our adversaries quickly to avoid being judged and facing dire consequences.

In Matthew 5:25, Jesus instructs us to 'Agree with thine adversary quickly.' This serves both a practical and spiritual purpose. Practically, it is wise to resolve disputes to prevent them from escalating to a legal judgment. Spiritually, this principle reflects our relationship with God. By agreeing with God about our need for repentance and submission to His will, we find peace and avoid the judgment that comes from our disagreement with His sovereign authority. This agreement is rooted in faith, which acknowledges God's righteousness and our need for His mercy.
