What does the Bible say about anger and vengeance?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible advises against taking revenge, emphasizing that vengeance belongs to the Lord.

In Romans 12:19, the Apostle Paul reminds us not to seek revenge but to give place to wrath, stating that vengeance is the Lord's. This principle is also illustrated in the story of David and Nabal, where David restrained himself from acting out in anger due to Abigail's wise intervention. Acting impulsively in anger can lead to greater sin and regret, as David recognized when he chose to let the Lord handle the situation. Instead of seeking retribution, we are instructed to overcome evil with good, which honors God and allows Him to enact justice in His perfect timing.
