What does the Bible say about apostles and miracles today?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible indicates that the office of apostles and the gift of miracles were specific to the early church and have ceased.

The New Testament outlines the role of apostles as extraordinary leaders chosen by Christ for the initial establishment of the church. As indicated in Matthew 10:1-8 and Luke 6:13, apostles were given direct authority by Jesus during His earthly ministry. However, this apostleship was a unique office meant for that specific time and purpose, ceasing once the foundational work of the church was established. Likewise, miracles were prevalent during the apostles' ministry as a means to validate their message and authority (Hebrews 2:3-4). Therefore, while the early church experienced these gifts, they are not meant to persist in the same capacity within today's church.
