What does the Bible say about asking for mercy?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible emphasizes that we should ask for God's mercy as it is the only thing that can spare us from eternal punishment.

Psalm 51 highlights the importance of asking for mercy, as seen in David's plea: 'Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy loving kindness.' In our sinful state, the only means of salvation is through God's mercy, which we should continuously seek as a fundamental need. Just as the blind man cried out for mercy, we must recognize our desperate need for God's grace, as true acknowledgment of our sin leads us to plead for His mercy.
