What does the Bible say about asking in Christ's name?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that asking in Christ's name means to ask in accordance with His will and for His glory.

In John 14:12-14, Jesus tells His apostles that whatever they ask in His name, He will do it so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. This does not simply mean tacking 'in Jesus' name' onto the end of a prayer; it means to ask with an understanding of who Christ is, to be identified with Him, and to plead for things that reflect His character and glory. Asking in His name encapsulates the believer's relationship with Christ and acknowledges that He is our mediator with God. True prayer in His name must align with God's will and purpose, ultimately seeking to glorify Christ above all.
