What does the Bible say about being blind and deaf to God's truth?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible indicates that without God's intervention, we are spiritually blind and deaf, unable to perceive truth (Isaiah 43:8).

In Isaiah 43:8, God calls for the blind who have eyes and the deaf who have ears, illustrating that, apart from His grace, humanity remains spiritually blind and deaf. This speaks to our inherent inability to perceive spiritual truths without divine illumination. As Jesus said to Nicodemus, unless one is born from above, they cannot see the kingdom of God. The natural man's heart is unresponsive to the things of the Spirit; such spiritual discernment comes only through the work of God's grace in the human heart.
