What does the Bible say about being born from above?

In John 3:3, Jesus emphasizes to Nicodemus that unless one is born again, or born from above, he cannot see the kingdom of God. This new birth is a supernatural act of God, not something that can be achieved through human effort or will. Being born from above means being birthed by God, as John 1:12-13 indicates that those who become sons of God are born not of blood, the will of the flesh, or the will of man, but of God.
