What does the Bible say about being distressed and in debt?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible describes those who are distressed and in debt as needing to come to Christ for salvation and relief.

In 1 Samuel 22, we see that David attracted those who were in distress, in debt, and discontented. This passage illustrates that God draws those who recognize their spiritual inability and need for a Savior. Distress signifies being confined by one's own incapacities, while debt refers to the insurmountable obligation of sin that humanity cannot repay. In coming to Christ, believers find relief and redemption, for it is Christ who paid the debt of sin they could not pay.
