What does the Bible say about being elect?

Answered in 3 sources

The Bible describes God's people as elect, chosen by God according to His sovereign purpose before the foundation of the world.

The term 'elect' is used numerous times in the New Testament to refer to God's chosen people. It signifies that those who are born of God are uniquely favored and loved by Him. In 1 Peter 1:2, it is stated that believers are elect according to the foreknowledge of God. This foreknowledge refers not only to God’s omniscience but also to His sovereign act of choosing, indicating a deep approval and love for His chosen ones. Importantly, this election is unto salvation and guarantees the believer's ultimate redemption. The beloved Apostle Paul also reinforces this doctrine, as seen in Ephesians 1:4-5, where it speaks of having been chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world, establishing God's plan for salvation long before creation.
