What does the Bible say about being hungry and thirsty for righteousness?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that those who hunger and thirst for righteousness are blessed because they will be filled with Christ's righteousness (Matthew 5:6).

In Matthew 5:6, our Lord declares, 'Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled.' This hunger and thirst is not physical but represents a deep spiritual craving for righteousness that can only be satisfied by Christ. The hunger arises from an acknowledgment of one's own sinfulness and lack of righteousness. When God instills this hunger and thirst in a person, it signifies a movement toward salvation, where that individual realizes they are empty of all spiritual good and desperately need Christ to satisfy their cravings.
