What does the Bible say about being made meet for salvation?

In Colossians 1:12-14, Paul notes that God has made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance among the saints in light by delivering us from darkness, translating us into the kingdom of His Son, redeeming us through His blood, and forgiving us of our sins.
