What does the Bible say about being near the kingdom of God?

Answered in 3 sources

The Bible warns that many can be near the kingdom of God yet remain lost, highlighting the importance of true faith in Christ for salvation.

In Mark 12:28-34, we see a scribe who is acknowledged by Jesus as being 'not far from the kingdom of God.' This reveals a profound truth: one may have a measure of understanding or hold a respect for religious things yet still be outside of the salvation offered through Jesus Christ. Being near the kingdom indicates awareness of God's truth and a recognition of His commandments, as this scribe displayed, yet without genuine faith and acceptance of Christ, one stands at the gates of eternal life but does not enter in. It is a precarious position, akin to standing at the threshold without crossing through the door that is Christ Himself.
