What does the Bible say about being not guilty before God?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that through faith in Christ, believers are declared not guilty as their sins are charged to Christ.

According to Romans 7:4, believers are considered dead to the law through the body of Christ, meaning that the demands of the law have been satisfied on their behalf. This acquittal occurs not because God overlooks sin, but because Christ, who was without sin, took upon Himself the full weight of sin for those who believe. Romans 5:12 explains that through Adam's sin, death entered into the world, making all guilty, but through Christ, believers receive righteousness and are justified (Romans 5:1) because their sins are placed on Him and His righteousness is credited to them.
