What does the Bible say about being overcome by sin?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that all men and women are born into sin and are completely overcome by it.

Scripture makes it clear that every person is born with a sinful nature that cannot be controlled by their own efforts. In Ecclesiastes 7:20, it states that 'there is not a just man upon earth that doeth good and sinneth not.' This underscores the reality that we are all tainted by sin from birth, incapable of achieving righteousness on our own. As such, sin has a pervasive and overpowering effect on our lives, leaving us in bondage and corruption, as referenced in 2 Peter 2:19.
