What does the Bible say about being reconciled to God?

Answered in 13 sources

The Bible indicates that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself through Christ's sacrificial death (2 Corinthians 5:19).

The theme of reconciliation is central to the gospel message. In 2 Corinthians 5:19, Paul writes, 'That is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.' This reconciliation is achieved solely by the work of Christ on the cross, where He bore our sins and made amends with God on our behalf. This teaches us that our relationship with God, marred by sin, can only be restored through faith in Jesus Christ, who is the mediator of this reconciliation. Hence, understanding our reconciled status in Christ is pivotal for our assurance of salvation and relationship with God.
