What does the Bible say about believers being elect?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that believers are elected by God's grace according to His foreknowledge and purpose.

The concept of election is central to understanding the believer's identity. 1 Peter 1:2 states that believers are elect 'according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, and obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ.' This election is not based on any merit found in the believer but solely on God's sovereign choice. Before the foundation of the world, God chose certain individuals to be saved, demonstrating His grace and mercy in calling them to Himself. This ensures that salvation is entirely a work of God, negating any human contribution to our salvation.
