What does the Bible say about belonging to God?

Answered in 7 sources

The Bible teaches that all people belong to God by creation, but believers belong to Him in a special relationship through Christ's sacrifice and God's electing grace.

According to Scripture, all souls belong to God as their Creator, as stated in Ezekiel 18:4, which says, 'All souls are mine.' However, believers have a unique relationship with God; they are His children purchased by the blood of Christ. This is articulated in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, where Paul states, 'For ye are bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.' Thus, believers are called to recognize and live out their identity as belonging to God in a familial and intimate way.
