What does the Bible say about choice in serving God?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that true choice in serving God arises from God's sovereign work in the heart, showing that all other choices are vanity.

In Joshua 24:14-15, the choice presented is between serving the Lord God or serving vain idols. However, true spiritual choices are not made by spiritually dead sinners; they are dictated by the heart renewal effected by Christ through the Gospel. While dead in sins, sinners may think they have multiple choices, but all choices made outside of faith in Christ are ultimately vain and unfruitful. The choice that matters is that made by God in the hearts of His people, who are called and empowered to serve Him alone through faith.
