What does the Bible say about Christ as High Priest?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible teaches that Christ is our eternal High Priest, appointed by God and superior to the Levitical priests.

The Book of Hebrews makes it clear that Christ is our great High Priest, contrasting His priesthood with that of Aaron and the Levitical priesthood. Unlike those priests, who were many and had a temporary role, Christ is the one eternal High Priest after the order of Melchisedec (Hebrews 5:5-10). His priesthood is characterized by the offering of Himself as a perfect sacrifice, unlike the continual sacrifices offered by the priests of Israel, which were unable to put away sin. In Him, we have a mediator who not only understands our plight but has also fully paid for our sins through His substitutionary death.
