What does the Bible say about Christ as priest?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible presents Christ as the eternal High Priest, fulfilling the roles of priest, prophet, and king.

In Hebrews 5:1, it is stated that every high priest is appointed to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins. However, unlike the old Testament priests, who were mere men and whose sacrifices could never truly take away sins, Christ acts as our High Priest in the order of Melchizedek (Hebrews 5:5-10). His priesthood is eternal and divine, reflecting His unique qualification to mediate between God and humanity. As the perfect, spotless Lamb of God, Christ offers Himself once for all and secures eternal redemption for His people, demonstrating the completeness of His sacrificial work and His unique role as both priest and sacrifice.
