What does the Bible say about Christ as the foundation of the church?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible teaches that Jesus Christ is the only foundation for the church and all believers.

In 1 Corinthians 3:11, it states, 'For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.' This verse emphasizes that Jesus is not just one among many options; He is the singular and essential foundation upon which the church is built. The church derives its identity, purpose, and meaning from Christ's person and work. Just as a building cannot stand without a proper foundation, so too, the church cannot exist apart from the foundational truth of Christ's deity and His redemptive work. Furthermore, any division within the church often stems from a failure to recognize and uphold Christ as the central foundation.
