What does the Bible say about Christ's purpose in coming to die?

Answered in 1 source

Christ came to die to put away sin because no other sacrifice could accomplish this.

The Bible declares that our Lord Jesus came to this world specifically to put away sin, as outlined in Hebrews 10:1-4. The Old Testament sacrifices were merely shadows and could never take away sin. It was not possible for the blood of bulls and goats to address human sin; only through Christ's sacrifice could redemption and forgiveness be achieved. God's justice required a perfect payment for sin, which only Christ, as the perfect Lamb of God, could fulfill. His sacrificial death was necessary to satisfy divine justice and bring about our salvation.
