What does the Bible say about cleansing ourselves from sin?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible teaches that we cannot cleanse ourselves, but through the blood of Christ, we are made clean.

In 2 Corinthians 7:1, Paul instructs the believers to cleanse themselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, which speaks to the moral purity expected of God's people. However, it is essential to understand that this cleansing does not originate from our efforts or ability. Scripture reveals that it is ultimately through the redemptive work of Christ—His sacrifice—that we are made clean (Ezekiel 36:25; 1 John 1:7-9). Our obedience and moral purity are fruits of the inward work that God does in believers, distinguished by a genuine faith in Christ.
