What does the Bible say about complaining for sin?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible emphasizes that a living man should complain for the punishment of his sins as he recognizes the reality of sin against a holy God.

In Lamentations 3:39-41, Jeremiah highlights that a living man complains regarding the punishment for his sins. This complaint arises from a consciousness of sin, as only a heart made alive by God can truly perceive the grievous nature of sin. When we are spiritually dead, we remain oblivious to our sinful state. However, once awakened, like Jeremiah, we cry out to God, recognizing both the severity of sin and the loving correction of the Lord, whose chastening is meant for growth and restoration.
