What does the Bible say about covenants with God?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible explains that God established covenants with His people, where a representative fulfills conditions to enact promises.

In Scripture, a covenant is a mutual agreement between God and His people, defining obligations and promises. For instance, God made a covenant with Adam in the garden, where Adam acted as the representative of all mankind. When Adam sinned, this covenant was broken, causing death to pass upon all men (Romans 5:12). In Isaiah 49:8, God promises to give His Son, Christ, as a covenant for the people to restore what was lost through Adam's transgression. Christ is our mediator, ensuring that divine justice is satisfied and enabling the fulfillment of God's promises to His elect.
