What does the Bible say about demons?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible acknowledges the reality of demons and teaches that they can cause destruction and harm to individuals.

Demons are mentioned numerous times throughout scripture, illustrating their reality and their capacity to influence and oppress individuals. In the Gospels, we see Jesus casting out demons as a demonstration of His authority over the spiritual realm. For example, in Luke 11:14-20, Jesus casts out a mute demon, showing that He has power to deliver individuals from demonic oppression. Furthermore, scripture warns believers to be sober and vigilant, recognizing that our adversary, the devil, walks about seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). This suggests that demons are not merely mythical beings but rather real entities that seek to harm humanity.
