What does the Bible say about desiring God?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible teaches that true desire for God stems from recognizing His intrinsic excellencies and being drawn to Him out of sincere longings.

The Scriptures highlight that a genuine desire for God reflects true life in the believer's heart. In Psalms, we see this desire portrayed as essential: "My soul longs, yes, even faints for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God" (Psalm 84:2). This signifies not only an acknowledgment of God’s gifts but a deep longing for His holiness and presence, distinct from hypocritical desires that seek God merely for blessings.
