What does the Bible say about discouragement for believers?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible acknowledges that believers may experience discouragement, especially when faced with hardship or when outcomes do not align with their expectations.

Believers often face discouragement, which is reflected in the experiences of the children of Israel during their time in Egypt. When Moses and Aaron approached Pharaoh to demand the release of God’s people, Pharaoh's hardened heart resulted not only in oppression but also in deep discouragement among the Israelites. This illustrates how even when we do what God instructs, we may encounter seemingly insurmountable obstacles that lead to despair. In these moments, it's essential to remember that God is sovereign and allows such trials to deepens our understanding of His grace and mercy. The ultimate goal of these experiences is to remind believers of their utter reliance on God’s power and the futility of self-reliance, as true salvation glorifies God.
