What does the Bible say about distractions in serving God?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible highlights the importance of focusing on God's Word over being distracted by service.

In Luke 10:38-42, we see Martha distracted by much serving while her sister Mary sat at Jesus' feet, listening to His words. This account illustrates the struggle within every believer between the flesh and the spirit. Martha's service was commendable, yet it became a distraction from the most important aspect—hearing and applying the gospel. Christ gently admonished Martha, reminding her that there is one thing needful, which is to sit at His feet and listen to His Word, rather than being consumed by distractions.
