What does the Bible say about division caused by Christ?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible indicates that division occurs due to Christ's authority and the challenge it poses to our understanding of God.

In John 7:43, it is noted that there was a division among the people because of Christ. This division stems from a challenge to His authority and His right to rule and redeem those He has chosen. The religious leaders and the people often find themselves at odds, not due to worldly issues, but because of the fundamental question of who Christ is. Paul emphasizes this focus in 1 Corinthians 2:2, asserting he knew nothing except Christ and Him crucified, highlighting that the central issue should always be the gospel, rather than moral controversies. When we stray from this focus, we lose sight of the true message of redemption that Christ offers.
