What does the Bible say about faith and rest?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible teaches that true faith brings believers into a rest in Christ, signifying a cessation from works to attain God's favor.

In Hebrews 4:1-2, we see that the promise of entering God's rest is linked to faith. Those who believe enter into a spiritual rest that reflects the complete work of Christ. Just as God rested on the seventh day after creation, believers cease from their own efforts to earn salvation. This rest is not about inactivity but about resting in the finished work of Christ, recognizing that salvation is by grace through faith, independent of works. The Israelites in the wilderness, who did not believe, failed to enter into that rest, serving as a warning for believers today to hold firm in faith and trust in God's promise.
