What does the Bible say about faith's growth?

Answered in 1 source

Faith grows from a small spark to a sustaining flame, deepening through experiences and God’s promises.

In the Christian life, faith can be likened to a fire that starts as a spark and grows into a sustaining flame. Initially, faith may be small, like a spark that ignites a fire, often stirred by a person's need for Christ in desperate situations. As illustrated in John 4 with the nobleman seeking healing for his son, faith begins with necessity, pressing individuals to seek God. Over time, as believers see God’s faithfulness in their lives, their faith matures, akin to a fire warming a room with its coals. True faith not only starts as a spark but also grows as believers encounter trials, witness God’s providence, and rely on His promises, leading to a deeper trust and a settled peace in Christ.
