What does the Bible say about false Christianity?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible warns about false Christianity, describing it as a religion that seeks its own righteousness rather than God's grace.

The Scriptures reveal that false Christianity is characterized by a refusal to accept Christ's true nature and the gospel of sovereign grace. In Isaiah 4, the imagery of seven women taking hold of one man reflects the desire of apostate groups who want to be associated with Christ but insist on their own means of sustenance. They want to wear a man's name without partaking of his true righteousness; that's a clear depiction of modern false Christianity which prefers self-made righteousness over the grace of God. This affliction is echoed in 1 John 4:1 where believers are instructed to test the spirits to discern the truth.
