The Bible teaches that true peace comes from God and not from external sources.
In the pursuit of peace, believers must remember that it is derived solely from their relationship with Christ. Jesus teaches us that looking for peace from family or friends can lead to disappointment, especially when those around us do not share the same faith. In Matthew 10:34-36, Jesus indicates that true Christianity often causes division, and therefore, we should not seek peace in relationships that are not grounded in faith in Him. Instead, we must embrace the peace that God provides through Christ, recognizing that reliance on worldly relationships can detract from that peace.
