What does the Bible say about fleeing to Christ for refuge?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible teaches that Christ is the only true refuge for salvation and solace, as indicated in Hebrews 6:18.

The concept of fleeing to Christ for refuge is deeply rooted in Scripture, particularly illustrated in Hebrews 6:18. Just as the manslayer in ancient Israel had to flee to one of the cities of refuge appointed by God for safety, sinners must flee to Christ, the only appointed refuge. Acts 4:12 reinforces this by stating that salvation cannot be found in any other name but Jesus, emphasizing that He alone offers mercy, peace, and eternal security to those in need of grace. Therefore, fleeing to Christ is not only essential for salvation but also for consolation in times of trouble.

When individuals acknowledge their need for mercy and approach Christ, they experience a transformative process akin to the manslayer entering the city of refuge. Upon entering, just as the manslayer declared his cause and came under the city's protection, a sinner confesses their sin and receives the protective grace of Christ (1 John 1:9; John 10:27-28). This act leads to profound spiritual benefits, including complete acquittal of guilt (Romans 3:24) and cleansing from sin through the blood of Christ (Hebrews 9:14). In fleeing to Christ, believers find ultimate safety and assurance because He is their refuge and sanctuary from judgment and despair.
