What does the Bible say about God's attributes in salvation?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that God's attributes of holiness, righteousness, and justice do not contradict His ability to save; rather, He saves by making believers righteous through Christ.

The attributes of God—His holiness, righteousness, and justice—are foundational to understanding salvation. Scripture asserts that God is absolutely holy; thus, everything He does must also be holy (Luke 8:43-48). Righteousness is another defining characteristic; He will never be justly charged with unrighteousness, meaning He cannot compromise His nature when saving humanity. Salvation does not require God to change His attributes or character. Instead, He honors His character by ensuring that anyone He saves becomes as righteous as Himself through the work of Jesus Christ. This is the heart of the gospel: Christ lived a holy life and took our place, allowing God to remain just while justifying those who believe (Romans 3:26).
