What does the Bible say about God's examples for us?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that events from the past serve as examples to guide and admonish us today.

In 1 Corinthians 10:6, the Apostle Paul explicitly states that the things that happened to the children of Israel serve as examples for us. These historical accounts are not merely for our information but are intended to instruct and warn us about the consequences of ignoring God’s commandments. The Israelites experienced God's mercy and provision, such as the cloud and the rock, which symbolizes Christ, yet many fell away in the wilderness due to their disobedience and lusting after evil things. Thus, the stories recounted serve as admonitions so that we may learn and take heed, preventing us from making the same mistakes.
