What does the Bible say about God's love and adoption?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible reveals God's love through acts of election and our adoption as His children, as stated in 1 John 3:1.

The Scriptures clearly show us that God's love is foundational to our understanding of who He is and how He relates to us. In 1 John 3:1, it says, 'Behold what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God.' This adoption into God's family is rooted in His sovereign election, as noted in Deuteronomy 7:7-8, where God chose Israel not for their merit but purely because of His love. Thus, our adoption exemplifies the great grace of God that transforms us from 'children of wrath' to 'sons of God' through His love revealed in Christ.
