What does the Bible say about God's mercy in a wicked world?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible indicates that God's mercy allows the world to continue for the sake of the elect who must be saved.

In Isaiah 65:8-10, God speaks of preserving a wicked world because of His elect. Just as the new wine is found in the cluster, so God sees a blessing in the withered vine of humanity. This divine mercy serves a purpose: that His servants, marked for salvation, should not be destroyed. God's longsuffering is not aimed at saving all but focuses on ensuring that every chosen one comes to repentance. Thus, the world remains, not due to indifference, but because of God's grace toward His elect, who are the hidden blessings in this fallen state.
