What does the Bible say about God's mercy towards His children?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that God's mercy is constant and unfailing, even when His children stray.

In Genesis 35, we see God's mercy towards Jacob, a believer who had wandered away from God's command. Despite Jacob's failures and his time spent in Shechem away from Bethel, God did not abandon him. Instead, He spoke to Jacob, commanding him to return to Bethel and dwell there. This act reveals that God is committed to His elect, ensuring they return to Him, regardless of their straying. God treats His chosen ones with grace, reminding them of their first love and nudging them back toward Himself, regardless of their past shortcomings.
