What does the Bible say about God's people and the world?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that God's people are strangers and pilgrims in this world, looking for a city with eternal foundations made by God.

The Bible describes God's people as sojourners on this earth, distinctly living in a world that is temporary and filled with sin. In Hebrews 11:10, it is written that Abraham looked forward to a city with foundations whose builder and maker is God. This reflects the longing of believers to be free from the turmoil and suffering of this world. The contrast is that while the world clings to its pleasures and comforts, the new man in Christ feels out of place, yearning for the ultimate inheritance that God has promised in the new heaven and earth.
