What does the Bible say about God's people and tribulation?

The Scriptures clearly convey that God's people will encounter tribulation for their faith and obedience to Christ. In John 15:19, Jesus states, 'If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.' This passage implies that the hardships faced by believers are inherent in their identity as followers of Christ.
