What does the Bible say about God's pleasure?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that God does all things according to His pleasure, including the redemption of sinners and the proclamation of the gospel.

According to Scripture, God's pleasure defines His sovereignty over creation. He acts freely and does not depend on anything outside of Himself. Psalm 115:3 asserts, 'Our God is in the heavens; He does all that He pleases.' This sovereignty encompasses His pleasure in selecting a people for Himself, as it has pleased the Lord to make a remnant from every tribe and tongue His own. Furthermore, God's pleasure is evident in the righteousness that He delights in, which is fully realized in His Son, Jesus Christ, in whom He is well pleased (Matthew 3:17).
